Today's business world is fraught with external risks, mainly through individuals or "syndicates" with dishonest intentions. The situation worsens almost in tandem with cybersecurity, for example where malicious programs run rampant through the Internet seeking the next viable target. Some are even specifically and purposefully developed for the purpose of draining bank accounts at the unwitting touch of a button. Protection in this scenario is the same as installing effective firewalls in your computer system. However, integrity runs deeper than merely implementing "hard" fixes to a system.

Integrity deals with the principles and values of an individual, helping them to categorically reject all notions of illegal or unethical behaviour through an internal and very personal choice. Many major corporations have faced similar issues, brought about by executives and employees who have discarded their integrity and instead chosen a darker path towards achieving their goals. 

 

There are quite a few motivations that eventually lead an individual to sacrifice his loyalty, values and principles but more often than not, the root cause is usually personal in nature, salved over by monetary gains. But the question remains: How to prevent integrity issues from surfacing? The answer is simple but is increasingly difficult to achieve, and it is so fragile that continuous efforts are required to keep it functioning.
